About Me

- Dance and Choreography -

She began her training at The Dream Center Dance Academy in Massapequa, N.Y. where she focused on all styles of dance, trained competitively and taught at The Joy School of Dance.

 

After graduating from high school, she went on to get her degree at SUNY Brockport where she graduated magna cum laude. During her four years of studying, she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism with a concentration in multimedia journalism. She spent her time at college on the dance team and was elected the secretary and social media manager of the Student Dance Organization on campus. She was chosen to perform and showcase her own choreography at Cobblestone Performing Arts Center, the National Conference for Undergraduate Research and the American College Dance Association. Throughout the years of 2019-2022, she was awarded the Santo J. Giglio Award in Choreography, the Monserrat Fund for Dance, the Susan S. Collier First-Year Dance Scholarship, the Friends of Brockport Dance Scholarship and the Brockport Summer Dance Scholarship. Throughout her years at Brockport she has performed works by James Hansen, Adam Barruch, Jenise Anthony and has worked closely with Mariah Maloney and Stevie Oakes. She has worked as an Arts Administration Intern for the Brockport Summer Dance Workshop and has attended intensives led by the Petronio Company, Quilian Arnold and the Peridance BLUEPRINT Intensive.

 

She is a graduate of the Broadway Dance Center Professional Semester where she held a concentration in theater and contemporary. There, she performed works from Khori Petinaud, Matt Wiercinski and worked closely with Cornelius Carter. Some of her most recent work has been touring as a backup dancer alongside recording artist J-line. She is now located in New York City where she continues to learn and grow as an artist.

Jess Karcz is a dancer, singer, actor, choreographer and journalist from Long Island, N.Y.  She has a passion for storytelling in all forms.

During her time at SUNY Brockport, Jess was elected the President of the Society of Professional Journalists where she was responsible for researching and planning guest speaker events for the college, as well as holding resume building workshops for students on campus. Some of her most notable speakers were the Vice President of World News at VICE and reporters from 13WHAM in Rochester. She has also worked as a social media intern for 585 Magazine in Rochester, N.Y., had the privilege to work under Carvin Eison to produce a two part mini series about fellow student’s documentary making process and was a member of the recruitment committee for the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority. One of her favorite projects she worked on was the documentary film, “Preserving an Identity'', which focused on how the Seneca Nation was keeping their language alive today. She was awarded the Michael D. Cravotta Communication Scholarship for leadership and is hoping she can continue this leadership by becoming  a producer one day.
